Ss 316 304 Difference

Grade 304 is most widely used Austenitic stainless steel. It accounts for more than 50% of all stainless steel produced, represents between 50% and 60% of Australia's consumption of stainless materials and finds applications in almost every industry.

Grade 316L is molybdenum-bearing austenitic stainless steels, which is more resistant to general corrosion and pitting/crevice corrosion than the conventional chromium-nickel austenitic stainless steels such as Grade 304. The low carbon chemistry of 316L combined with an addition of nitrogen enables 316L to meet the mechanical properties of 316.
